College Council
The purpose of the College Council is to improve the college’s decision-making processes, increase communications between constituencies, review program and committee performance, and provide input on institutional issues.
Role of the Council
College Council serves as the college's primary shared governance advisory body, bringing together representatives from administration, faculty, classified staff, and students to support collaborative decision-making. The Council advises the Superintendent/President and promotes integrity, equity, effectiveness, and transparency in institutional planning, governance, and continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities include:
- Evaluating and improving the college's governance and shared governance structure.
- Overseeing the Mission Statement, Strategic Plan, Institutional Effectiveness Manual, and related action plans.
- Guiding the administrative procedure review and revision process.
- Supporting compliance with accreditation standards and institutional effectiveness requirements.
- Facilitating communication, training, and engagement in governance processes across the college community.
- Promoting equity-minded decision-making and broad constituent participation in college governance.
