Welcome to the Student Parent Resource Page - We have assembled resources to help students who are also juggling their academics with being a parent. We have a variety of on and off campus resources to help support you. Our goal is to ensure you are successful in pursuing your educational goals while supporting your family life.
On Campus Resources for Parents
The Butte College Child Development Center (CDC) provides high-quality care for the children of Butte College students. To apply for services and for more information visit the Butte College Child Care web page.
The Roadrunner Hub is a one-stop shop to help Butte College students meet their basic needs so they can focus on their educational goals. Services include:
- Food pantry with groceries and hygiene items
- Help with CalFresh applications
- Housing resources
- Connections to campus and community resources

CARE (Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education) is a program within EOPS at Butte College designed specifically for single parents. If you're juggling parenting and college, CARE is here to provide the extra support you need to stay on track and reach your goals. For eligible students, CARE offers:
- One-on-one counseling and academic support
- Help with the cost of textbooks, meals, and gas
- Workshops and events tailored to the needs of single-parent students

CalFresh is California’s food assistance program (formerly known as Food Stamps). It provides monthly benefits to help individuals and families buy groceries and eat well—so you can focus on your health, your studies, and your future.
If you're eligible, you'll receive funds each month through an EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) card that works at most grocery stores and farmers markets.

Butte College's CalWORKs program serves student parents by providing an array of support services and financial aid to ensure that parents complete their educational goals and find meaningful employment. Off Campus Resources
The California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) is a state tax credit that can help low- to moderate-income workers—especially those with children—keep more of what they earn. If you're eligible, you could receive a refund or pay less in taxes. You may be eligible for CalEITC if:
- You’re at least 18 years old or have a qualifying child
- You earn less than $30,000 annually

If you qualify for the California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) and have a child under the age of 6, you may also qualify for a refundable tax credit of up to $1000. Visit the YCTC website to see if you qualify, estimate the amount of your credit and learn how to apply when filing your state tax return.
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides supplemental food, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age 5.
