Health and Wellness

Your health and well-being are essential to your success—both in and out of the classroom.  Our Student Health Center houses our on-campus Student Health Clinic which provides  basic health care  services on a drop in or appointment basis, as well as Mental Health Services which offers short-term mental health counseling. If you need services beyond what we can provide you  here on campus, we can connect you with clinics and other resources in the community.  We are here to help you stay healthy both mentally and physically on your academic journey!

Do you need immediate help?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

For care beyond the scope of the Student Health Center or when the Student Health Center is closed, there are several extended-hour prompt care and hospitals within miles of campus.

The cost of service at off-campus facilities is the responsibility of the student. Therefore, it is important that all students have health insurance that provides coverage in their area.

If you are injured on campus or during a campus activity, Butte College maintains an insurance program to offset some of the costs associated with that injury. Visit the Student Health Clinic for assistance in filling out a claim form. You will then need to be seen by a Blue Cross Preferred Provider (not the Student Health Clinic) to start the claim.

Tips for Buying Health Insurance

Read the entire brochure carefully. Pay special attention to:

  • The list of exclusions (what is not covered under the plan).
  • When the benefits begin and end.
  • Who and where you can be treated. Some insurance policies have a specific "network" of health care providers to whom you can visit. If you go to someone out of the network, you may be responsible for paying a larger portion of the bill.
  • What portion of any medical expenses you will be responsible for paying.
  • The mandatory health fee students pay each quarter is NOT health insurance.
