Student Life

The Office of Student Life is dedicated to providing student involvement and leadership opportunities that enhance the college experience and prepare students to contribute to a diverse, dynamic, and global society.

Student Life encourages student involvement and supports opportunities that foster leadership, connection, and growth both inside and outside the classroom. Through student government, clubs, campus events, and the allocation of grants and funding for student projects and initiatives, Student Life supports student engagement and helps students make the most of their Butte College experience.

Get Involved

Joining a club is one of the easiest and most rewarding ways to get involved at Butte College. With dozens of student-led clubs to choose from, there’s something for everyone: academic, cultural, creative, social, and more.

Make a difference on campus! Student Government gives you the chance to speak up, lead projects, and represent your fellow students. From planning events to influencing college policies, your voice helps shape the Butte College experience.

Your voice matters. Through student advocacy, you can raise awareness, influence campus decisions, and help create a more inclusive and equitable community.  Whether you’re addressing student needs, organizing for social justice, or serving on campus committees, advocacy gives you the power to lead with purpose and impact.

Funding

At Butte College, we believe student life should be vibrant, inclusive, and supported. Whether you're planning a club event, hosting a campus-wide initiative, or developing a project that fosters leadership or community engagement, there are funding opportunities to help bring your ideas to life. Explore resources through the Butte College Student Senate (BCSS) Grant Program and Inter-Club Council (ICC) funding to support activities that make our campus a more dynamic and connected place for all.

The Butte College Student Senate (BCSS) budget is made up of the Student Activity Fees paid by students each semester. Each year, the BCSS allocates a portion of its overall budget to the BCSS Grant Funds. The grants intend to support student-oriented projects, events, and research at Butte College that motivate and inspire students through education, activism, community building, civic engagement, travel, and leadership development. In addition to projects that support the general student population and campus, the BCSS has allocated additional funding for projects that specifically focus on sustainability and/or diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts.

Steps to Apply

  1. Review the BCSS Grant deadlines below and select the grant funding cycle that meets your project/travel needs.  All approved funds are available through the end of the academic year. It's never too early to submit your BCSS Grant!
  2. Complete an BCSS grant application for travel or a campus project.
  3. Applicants will be notified if the application meets the qualifications to be heard at the following BCSS Board meeting.  Applicants are highly encouraged to attend the meeting to provide further information and/or answer questions for the board.
