Accreditation

Butte College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC), a recognized institutional accrediting body under the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. The ACCJC ensures that member institutions maintain high standards of academic quality and institutional effectiveness.

Accreditation Information

As part of its accreditation process, Butte College undergoes a thorough evaluation every six or seven years. This includes a comprehensive self-study, and a peer review visit to assess the college’s alignment with ACCJC standards. A midterm report is also required in the third year of each accreditation cycle.

In December 2021, the Butte College Board of Trustees approved the college’s Institutional Self-Evaluation Report, which was followed by a virtual site visit from February 28 to March 3, 2022. The review team prepared its report, which was reviewed at the ACCJC’s June 2022 meeting. ACCJC reaffirmed Butte’s accreditation for 2022-2029.
