CalGETC is the California General Education Transfer Curriculum. For students beginning college in Fall 2025 and beyond, it is the single transfer General Education (GE) pattern for all California Community College students to transfer to all California State Universities (CSU) and Universities of California (UC). It replaces the older IGETC and CSU GE patterns.

What is a Transfer Admission Agreement (TAA) or Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG)?
A TAG or TSP is a written agreement between you and a university that guarantees you admission if you meet specific requirements. These agreements are a great option if you know where you want to transfer and want a clear path to get there.
TAG is available through:
University of California (UC) campuses
TSP is available through:
California State Universities (CSUs)
Transfer admission agreements are also available from some private universities.
How many agreements can I have?
You can only sign one TAG with a UC campus. You may sign multiple TSPs with eligible CSUs (or agreements with private universities) as long as you meet their requirements.
What are the basic eligibility requirements?
Note: Agreements may not be available for all majors—especially impacted or selective programs.
To qualify for most TAG or TSP programs, you’ll need to:
- Complete 30 transferable units
- Meet the minimum GPA requirement for your chosen university
- Finish 60 transferable units by the end of the semester before you transfer
Example: If you're transferring in Fall 2026, you must complete all required courses by Spring 2026. Some schools may require major preparation courses to be done by the fall before transfer.
UC TAG Eligibility Requirements
CSU TSP Eligibility Requirements
How do I know which courses are transferable?
To find out which of your courses count toward transfer, meet with a counselor and bring:
- Transcripts from all colleges you’ve attended
- Your AP test results (if any)
Visit ASSIST.org to check course transferability to CSU and UC campuses.
For private universities, visit their websites and look for articulation agreements.
Where can I find the TAA/TAG forms?
UC TAG applications are submitted online at the UC TAG Website.
TSP forms and private university agreement information available at the Transfer Counseling Center (Main Campus SAS 110).
How do I complete a TAA or TAG?
- Meet with a counselor to go over your major, eligibility, GPA, and transferable courses
- Complete the appropriate TAG, TSP, or agreement form
- Meet with the Transfer Center Coordinator to finalize and submit your agreement
- Submit your admission application by the regular deadline
Don’t wait until the last minute—make an appointment early!

ASSIST is California’s official transfer and articulation system. It helps you understand how courses you take at Butte College will transfer to a University of California (UC) or California State University (CSU) campus. This online tool lets you view agreements between colleges, compare majors, and explore how your completed coursework fits into your target university’s degree requirements. ASSIST is especially useful for students following CSU GE, IGETC, or major-specific pathways.

Through Cross Enrollment, eligible Butte College students can take a single class each term at Chico State without formal admission. This opportunity gives you a head start on university-level coursework and a feel for the university experience—while staying enrolled at Butte. You’ll pay just a small administrative fee, and the course may count toward your transfer degree. Space is limited and approvals are required, so plan ahead if you're interested.

A CSEP is a detailed academic plan that maps out all the courses you need to complete your transfer goals. Created with a counselor, your CSEP outlines your major, target university, general education pattern, and a semester-by-semester course plan. It helps you stay on track and avoid taking unnecessary units. Completing a CSEP with a counselor is strongly recommended for priority registration and financial aid eligibility.
