Concurrent Enrollment

Concurrent Enrollment lets you take Butte College classes while you are still in high school, giving you the chance to earn college credit early. Your enrollment and service fees are waived, though you may need to pay for textbooks or other course materials.

About Concurrent Enrollment

Concurrent Enrollment is a great way for students to get a head start on college. Through Concurrent Enrollment, you can take Butte College classes online or at a Butte College campus. You can earn college credit, explore subjects that interest you, and save money because enrollment and service fees are waived. You may still need to pay for textbooks or other course materials.

Eligibility Requirements

Concurrent Enrollment is open to California residents who are enrolled in high school or attending an adult education program. In some cases, middle school students may also be eligible.

Complete the Butte College online application via CCC Apply

  • Note: If you’ve previously applied to Butte College or submitted an ESL application, you do not need to reapply.

You’ll need your Butte College Student ID, username, and password for the Pre-Registration Form in Step 3.

All Concurrent Enrollment students must attach a signed Consent Form when submitting the Pre-Registration Form in Step 3. The Consent Form requires signatures from you, your parent/guardian, and your school principal/counselor/education manager.
  • Note: If you have previously participated in Dual Enrollment or Concurrent Enrollment, a Consent Form is not required.

Log in with your Butte College email and complete the Concurrent Enrollment Pre-Registration Form each semester. The form will ask for:
  • Student & School Information: Contact details for you, your school, and your counselor/adult education manager.
  • Course Enrollment: List the courses you want to take after consulting with your school counselor and checking the prerequisites. Include alternate courses in case your first choices are full.  
  • Document Upload: You may need to upload additional documents based on your situation, such as:

Review and Approval Process

After submission, your Pre-Registration form will be reviewed by your school counselor. Once approved, Butte College’s School Relations Team will process the form within 3-5 business days. You will receive an email once your form is processed or if additional documents are needed. Your form will not be processed until all required documents are submitted.

Once approved, you are responsible for registering for the approved courses. You will receive an email with registration instructions, including your specific registration date and time.
