Associate Degree in Computer Animation and Game Development
The Computer Animation and Game Development program combines art and technology to prepare students for transfer and advanced study in digital media. Students gain a foundation in multimedia design and production with applications in digital animation, video game design, 3D modeling, texture and concept art, special effects, graphic and storyboard art, and game programming. This program meets lower-division major preparation for the Computer Animation and Game Development program at CSU, Chico and for similar majors at other four-year universities.
Flexibility
You'll need to do most of your major coursework at Main Campus, where the required classes have run consistently. You may need to add a few courses from the Chico Center or take them online to fill in the gaps, so meeting with an advisor to plan your full sequence is a good idea.

Associate Degree or Certificate of Achievement in Computer System Administration
The Computer System Administration program prepares students for industry-recognized certification exams and entry-level employment as computer support technicians or junior system and network administrators. The curriculum includes server and network installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance. No prior technical experience is required for enrollment. Courses within the program align with preparation for multiple certification exams, including Cisco CCNA, CompTIA A+, Linux+, Network+, Server+, Cloud+, and Security+. With additional GE graduates can attain an Associate Degree in Computer System Administration.
Associate Degree in Computer Information Systems
The Computer Information Systems program prepares students for transfer and career opportunities by focusing on the practical application of technology to support organizations. Coursework includes end-user IT systems, systems analysis and design, software development, and mathematics. This program partially reflects the requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems at CSU, Chico; students planning to transfer should consult with a counselor to review program and transfer requirements. Career opportunities for graduates include IT consultant, programmer/analyst, application developer, quality assurance specialist, IT support specialist, IT project manager, and other roles in the IT industry.
Associate Degree or Certificate of Achievement in Cyber-Security Practitioner
The Certificate of Achievement in Cyber-Security Practitioner prepares students for entry-level employment in cybersecurity and equips them with the knowledge and skills required to pass globally recognized industry certifications. The program emphasizes industry standards, best practices, and hands-on training to develop a workforce of highly skilled digital security professionals. Graduates will be prepared for careers as cybersecurity practitioners and related roles in the field of information security. With additional GE graduates can attain an Associate of Science in Cyber-Security Practitioner.
Flexibility
Most programs in this cluster require you to combine Online with at least one physical location—Main Campus, Chico Center, or Glenn Center—since no single location offers all required courses. Online typically covers the bulk of your major coursework, making it a strong anchor point, while you'll fill in remaining courses at whichever physical center fits your schedule best. General education requirements offer more flexibility and can usually be completed at any center or online once your major courses are locked in.

Associate Degree or Certificate of Achievement in Computer Programming
The Computer Programming program prepares students for entry-level employment as computer programmers and web developers. The curriculum covers the software development life cycle, algorithms, fundamental data structures, database design, and the design, implementation, and testing of computer programs and dynamic websites. No prior programming experience is required for enrollment. With additional GE graduates can attain an Associate Degree in Computer Programming.
Flexibility
You can complete these programs by studying online, though combining online with Main Campus or the Chico Center will give you access to a fuller range of course offerings. The Computer Programming AS degree offers the strongest online availability if you prefer to study remotely, while the Certificate of Achievement has particularly good online coverage for major courses and works best when paired with courses at either Main Campus or the Chico Center to round out your requirements.

Associate Degree for Transfer in Computer Science
The Associate in Science in Computer Science for Transfer is designed for students planning to complete a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at a CSU campus. This degree guarantees admission to the CSU system, though not to a specific campus or major, and students transferring with this degree will be required to complete no more than 60 units after transfer to earn a bachelor’s degree.
Associate Degree in Computer Science
The Associate of Science in Computer Science prepares students to be able to describe the organizational structure of computer hardware and explain how it interacts with software systems. They will apply both structured and object-oriented approaches to software design, demonstrating the ability to plan and develop efficient, maintainable programs. In addition, students will document program source code clearly and accurately, following established industry conventions and standards.

The programs in this cluster are primarily available at Main Campus, where all major coursework has been reliably offered. General education requirements can be completed at any of our centers or online, giving you flexibility for those courses. If you're interested in studying at the Chico Center or Online, you'll need to combine those locations with Main Campus to ensure you can access all required major courses.

Associate Degree in Engineering
Upon successful completion of the Associate in Science in Engineering, students will be able to apply principles of mathematics and physics to analyze and solve engineering problems using systematic, evidence-based methods. They will demonstrate engineering judgment, accurate use of measurement tools, effective problem-solving with field data, and the ability to communicate technical analyses through clear and comprehensive written reports.
Associate Degree or Certificate of Achievement in Civil Engineering
The one-year Certificate of Achievement program in Civil Engineering provides students with foundational skills in engineering graphics, computer-aided design (CAD), and surveying. Coursework prepares graduates for entry-level positions supporting civil engineers in design, drafting, and fieldwork (not eligible for financial aid). With additional GE graduates can attain an Associate in Science Degree in Civil Engineering, which is designed to cover the majority of the first two years of coursework leading to a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering at CSU, Chico. While a bachelor’s degree is generally the minimum requirement to practice as a junior engineer, the associate degree provides preparation for employment as an engineering aide or assistant. The curriculum includes core math and science courses along with required lower-division courses in civil engineering.

Students complete lower-division coursework in mathematics, science, and engineering that prepares them for advanced study.
Certificate of Achievement in Engineering Support Technician
(Not Eligible for Financial Aid) The Certificate of Achievement, Engineering Support Technician offers coursework in foundational engineering principles along with hands-on training through a built-in internship in process manufacturing industries. Students gain the knowledge and experience needed for entry-level employment as engineering support technicians and are also prepared to take an industry-recognized certification exam.

Depending on the program, you may need to supplement Main Campus courses with offerings at the Chico Center or Online to fill schedule gaps, though a few programs like Engineering Fundamentals can be completed entirely at Main Campus. Your general education requirements offer the most flexibility and can be completed at any of our centers or online regardless of which program you choose.

Associate Degree or Certificate of Achievement in Civil Engineering Technology
The Civil Engineering Technology program is designed to prepare students to enter the world of Civil Engineering Technologists or Technicians. After completion of the program, the graduate will be prepared to enter civil engineering technology at the entry level, or complete additional GE to attain an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology. The Associate in Science Degree in Civil Engineering Technology prepares students for careers as civil engineering technologists or technicians through a broad curriculum that includes surveying, map drafting, and computer-aided drafting (CAD). Students gain the skills to serve on field survey crews, work in engineering offices, and prepare maps for recordation using both traditional drafting instruments and CAD software. There is a strong, ongoing demand for trained civil engineering technicians and technologists in both public and private sectors.

The programs in this cluster require most of your major coursework at Main Campus, where Civil Engineering Technology classes have strong and reliable availability. You'll have flexibility to complete some courses online or at the Chico Center or Glenn Center depending on your schedule, and your general education requirements can be finished at any of our centers or online. The specific mix of where you take courses may vary slightly depending on which program you're in, so check with your program advisor about the best path for your situation.

(Not Eligible for Financial Aid) The completion of this certificate will prepare students for the Cisco Certified Networking Associate certification.
Certificate of Completion in Computer Support Technician
(Not Eligible for Financial Aid) This certificate provides the required skills for employment as a Helpdesk technician and provides a foundation in information communications technology.
Certificate of Completion in Linux Pro
(Not Eligible for Financial Aid) The Linux Essentials Certificate is designed to teach students the basic Linux administration skills applicable to the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) workforce. Students completing this program will gain the skills necessary for entry-level Linux administration and the foundational knowledge required for industry certifications.
Certificate of Completion in Security Pro
(Not Eligible for Financial Aid) The Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate is designed for current Information and Communication Technology (ICT) professionals who wish to enhance their skills and advance their careers. The program provides a strong foundation in cybersecurity practices applicable to the IT workforce. Students completing this certificate will gain the knowledge and abilities needed to protect data, prevent loss, and apply industry best practices.
Certificate of Completion in Server Administration
(Not Eligible for Financial Aid) Completion of this certificate validates student knowledge of management and maintaining a modern Windows Server hybrid infrastructure.
