Puente

The Puente Program is an academic, counseling and mentoring program of support for students planning to transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Puente helps build the skills necessary for success in both academic and career goals while in community college. Students enrolled in the program work closely with their counselor, English instructor and mentor to prepare for transfer.

Phases

Puente students are required to take the courses specified below, and commit to one year of learning, community, and events.

Phase 1: Fall Semester

  • ENGL C1000: Academic Reading and Writing
  • CSL 20: College and Life
  • Success Events
Butte College Puente Students visit UC Berkeley Campus

Phase 2: Spring Semester

  • ENGL C1001: Critical Thinking and Writing
  • Mentoring and Events
Butte College Puente Students present certificates at transfer celebration

Phase 3: Ongoing Until Transfer

  • Transfer Counseling
  • Leadership Development
