On Saturday, August 23, Butte College awarded 250 scholarships totaling more than $200,000 at its annual Scholarship Awards Brunch. Hosted by the Butte College Foundation, the event celebrated student achievement and recognized the generosity of donors who make these awards possible.

Scholarships were granted based on financial need, academic excellence, community involvement, and students' chosen fields of study. The recipients represented a diverse range of backgrounds and academic goals.

In addition to the awards presented during the brunch, the Butte College Foundation provides scholarships to students in the law enforcement, fire, and state parks academies at their graduation ceremonies. The Foundation also collaborates with community partners to distribute an additional $200,000 in external scholarships. In total, more than 500 Butte College students benefit from scholarship support each year.

"I am continually inspired by the dedication of our students and the generosity of our donors," said Suzanne Watroba, executive director of the Butte College Foundation. "These scholarships ease financial burdens for our students and open doors to new opportunities."

The Foundation's annual scholarship application opens in February and is available to all incoming, current, and returning Butte College students, including high school seniors. Through annual and endowed scholarship donations, the Foundation continues to support student success and strengthen academic programs at Butte College.
