Butte College to Host First-Ever Festival de Nuestras Voces on May 7
Celebrating Latin(o)(x)(e) Heritage with Music, Art, and the Power of Storytelling
Butte College is proud to announce its inaugural Festival de Nuestras Voces, a vibrant celebration of Latin(o)(x)(e) and Hispanic cultures, taking place May 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Butte College main campus, 3536 Butte Campus Drive, Oroville, CA.
With live performances, cultural art displays, food vendors, and community organizations, the festival invites everyone to celebrate heritage and identity through the vibrant voices that shape our region.
Highlighting the day will be keynote speaker Yosimar Reyes, a nationally recognized poet and public speaker whose work centers on the intersection of queer identity, undocumented status, and community empowerment. Reyes-hailed by The Advocate and NPR for his poetic activism-will speak twice during the event, at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
The day will begin with Chico High's Ballet Folklorico, followed by a lineup of local Latinx performers, including Damian Martinez, Los de Chicali, Paola Hidalgo, and Los Altas de la Sierra.

Attendees can explore handcrafted art, enjoy authentic regional dishes, and connect with community groups and student organizations.
