Butte College is proud to announce that longtime faculty member Carrie Roberson has been named Educator of the Year by the Chico Noon Rotary.

For more than 21 years, Roberson has taught child development and life management courses at Butte College, going above and beyond to support students academically and personally. She takes on additional responsibilities to ensure that programs run smoothly and that students have access to the resources they need.

Beyond teaching, Roberson has played a significant leadership role at Butte College, serving as department chair (2012-2015), Academic Senate vice president (2013-2015), and senate president (2015-2017). She continues to serve on multiple committees, advise students, and mentor faculty, all while supporting initiatives that promote equity and access to education.

In addition to her campus contributions, Roberson represents Butte College at the state level as a leader within the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges (ASCCC). She has worked on initiatives related to hiring, curriculum, and transfer alignment, helping shape statewide policies.

This well-deserved honor reflects Roberson's deep commitment to education, student achievement, and faculty leadership at both Butte College and beyond.

"Carrie Roberson is extraordinarily deserving of this award," said Butte College Superintendent/President Virginia Guleff. "Her impact extends far beyond Butte College. Her leadership at the state level has strengthened pathways for students and faculty across California."
