Butte College Holds Math Building Grand Reopening
Butte College held a
grand reopening to celebrate its renovated Math building on
Wednesday, June 29 at 11 a.m. at the main campus, 3536 Butte Campus
Drive in Oroville.
The Math building renovation project started in February 2021. The 14,653 square foot building includes eight classrooms and one computer lab, and 16 faculty offices. The building also includes an administrative support office, work room, and a conference room. The facility features gathering spaces to support collaboration and engagement among students and faculty. Teaching spaces will feature the latest technology and audio/visual equipment to support instruction.
Along with
interior improvements, the building received a full structural
seismic upgrade. The building's mechanical, electrical, low
voltage, plumbing and fire protection systems have been replaced.
Natural light flows in from the building's skylights and
improvements to the exterior of the building includes plaster walls
and metal roofing.
This project cost $8,343,526 which utilized $6,322,000 in state funding and $2,112,526 from Measure J funds. The project was completed on time and within budget by United Building Contractors, Inc. of Chico.
