Butte College Speech and Debate Team Ranks in Statewide Competitions

Butte College's Speech and Debate team placed in two statewide competitions hosted by El Camino College and Point Loma University. The team earned three awards and two recognitions in total.

The El Camino College tournament was held virtually this year, and saw three members recognized for their efforts. This past weekend the team traveled to San Diego for Point Loma's in person tournament. Though the Speech and Debate team faced difficult competition from larger universities, they brought home two trophies and placements.

The Speech and Debate team is Butte College's only competitive academic program and is coached by Shannan Troxel-Andreas, Butte College Speech and Debate Director.
