I am an educator, workshop facilitator, poet, author, and advocate with over 20 years of college teaching at private, state, and community colleges. Along with teaching here at Butte College, I serve as associate faculty in the Child Development and Family Studies Department at Solano Community College. My work focuses on early childhood education and on advancing equity, inclusion, and belonging in educational spaces.
I am a returning student. I went back to college after 30 years and completed both my bachelor's and master's degrees. I hold a master's degree in human development with a specialization in leadership in education from Pacific Oaks College. I serve on the California Association for the Education of Young Children (CAAEYC) Committee for Equity and Inclusion, and I co-lead Teachers 4 Equity at Solano Community College. I am one of two recipients of the 2025-26 California Community College Hayward Award for Excellence in Education, which honors outstanding California community college faculty for their exceptional commitment to their students, their colleges, and the profession.
Before I came to higher education, I enjoyed a successful career in early childhood education as a teacher, lead teacher, and center director, followed by a 20-year career in public television, managing media education and community outreach at KVIE in Sacramento and KQED in San Francisco.
