My name is Natalie Lindenberg (she/her/ella), and I'm a full-time faculty member in the Child Development and Education Department at Butte College. As a Chico native, I began my own college journey in Child Development at Butte College before earning my bachelor's degree from California State University, Chico and my master's degree in bilingual education from the University of California, Davis. Returning to Butte College as a full-time faculty member is especially meaningful to me.
My career in education has included teaching preschool here in Chico and in Davis, California, serving as a bilingual elementary teacher in Watsonville, Seattle, and Mexico, and teaching basic skills for the past 13 years at the San Diego College of Continuing Education in the San Diego Community College District. As a fluent Spanish speaker, I've been fortunate to teach and learn in multilingual communities throughout my career. These experiences have fueled my passion for language, literacy, child development, and creating meaningful learning experiences for students of all ages, backgrounds, and learning styles.
Over the past decade, I've become especially passionate about neurodiversity and strengths-based approaches to learning. Whether we're talking about college students or young children, I believe every learner deserves to be understood for their strengths first. This perspective shapes the way I teach and the way I hope future educators will support children and families.
In my courses, you'll be encouraged to connect child development theory with real-world practice, think critically, observe carefully, and apply what you learn in meaningful ways that support children and families. I strive to create a classroom that is engaging, practical, inclusive, and supportive, one where questions are welcomed, different perspectives are valued, and everyone has the opportunity to grow. My hope is that you'll leave my courses with both the knowledge and the confidence to make thoughtful, informed decisions in your work with children and families.
