Occupational and Life Skills (OLS)
The Occupational and Life Skills (OLS) program helps adults build job and life skills and prepare for employment in the community. Through free, non-credit classes you develop workplace skills, job-search skills, and a career plan, and you can earn certificates that show employers what you can do. Classes are open to the community.
What you can earn
- Certificate of Completion in Occupational and Life Skills — complete six courses in the OLS sequence.
- Certificate of Completion in Navigating Workplace Success — build the fundamental workplace skills to start and keep a job.
You can focus on an occupational area such as carpentry, customer service, food service, greenhouse operations, hospitality, irrigation, retail sales, small engine repair, or warehousing.
What you will learn
- Workplace skills — professional conduct, communication, safety, teamwork, and problem-solving.
- Job-search and language skills — job applications, cover letters, résumés, and workplace reading and writing.
- Career planning — exploring careers, searching for jobs, making decisions, and setting goals.
