Workshops

In-person workshops will be offered at our main campus and Chico Center locations during the fall 2025 semester. We will be simulcasting select workshops online via Zoom through Penji.

Workshops will be offered through Thursday, December 11.

How to Attend

All CAS workshops are open to any currently-enrolled Butte College student. Advance registration is not required.

A list of upcoming workshops can be found in the Penji app or in the EDUC 310 Canvas course. Notification will be emailed to the instructor of your choice after you successfully complete a workshop.

Adulting 101

  • Being a Good Roommate
  • The Cost of Convenience
    Designed to help students identify and change spending habits that can drain their budgets. Students will engage in hands-on activities to compare costs and set realistic savings goals by making small but impactful changes to their daily routines.
  • Grow the Flip Up
  • Setting Screen Time Limits
    Designed to help students become more aware of their screen time, learn the importance of setting daily app limits and understand the impact of excessive phone use on their brains. With practical tips for reducing screen time, this workshop helps students build healthier digital habits.
  • Simple Car Maintenance
    Car trouble stressing you out? Don’t have time or money to visit a mechanic or get it serviced? Check out this workshop led by Butte College’s own Auto Program Faculty aimed at providing simple car care tips that you can use to help keep your vehicle running as long as possible.

Self Care

  • Balancing School, Work and Family
    Collaborate and learn new ways to balance work, school and family. This workshop includes time management ideas, organizational skills and many more tools to be successful both in and out of school.
  • Eat the Frog! Time Management for a Healthy You
  • The Food and Mood Connection
    The food we eat provides fuel for our brains. The choices we make can greatly improve our moods and improve our moods and improve our concentration and motivation.
  • Getting Good Sleep
    Highlights negative impacts on your mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing when you don’t get enough sleep. Why is sleep so important? Answers will be provided. We’ll also look at expert advice about how to prepare yourself and habituate getting a good night’s sleep.
  • Introduction to Mindfulness
    An introduction to mindfulness, including what mindfulness is and what it is not. Attendees learn about the science of mindfulness, including ways it has been shown to improve health and 2 wellness over time. More importantly, participants will learn practical strategies that they can apply every day to cultivate a more balanced approach to life.
  • Stress Management
    Life is stressful! Learn several specific methods for managing and decreasing stress at school and in your life.

    Do you find yourself worried about finances, college costs and managing credit? Attend this three-part series led by Butte’s Financial Aid Office! Don’t miss the chance to join these professionals as they share their expertise in areas of financing college education, good money management and credit awareness.

Academic Skills

  • Conquer the Test! (incl. Managing Test Anxiety)
    Test-taking is a learned skill. This workshop will provide you with methods that will make you a better test-taker in any subject. Causes of test anxiety will also be covered along with strategies to combat these.
  • Dang! As a Student, I Wish I'd Known That!
    This workshop will help students solidify their purpose in college and develop the mindset of a lifelong learner. Participants will learn about resources available to them and tips for making the best use of these during their time at Butte College.
  • Habits of Successful College Students
    What are habits that can help you succeed in college and have helped other students gain college success and meet their goals? Learn practical strategies for college success that you can start using this semester and throughout your college career.
  • Plagiarism
    This workshop focuses on defining plagiarism and demonstrating how to avoid plagiarizing in one's own writing and academic assignments. Students who attend this workshop will gain an understanding of what counts as plagiarism and how to properly cite sources in order to avoid doing it.
  • Preparing for Finals
    It’s never too early to begin preparing for final exams! Learn strategies you can implement now to get ready for these important – and often stressful – testing experiences.
  • Self-Editing Techniques
    Academic writing is a process that can impact student success across the disciplines. Join us for this practical workshop that will guide you through strategies to develop your ability to proof read your drafts and improve your writing skills.
