When campus development began in December 1973, the Butte College Board of Trustees committed the District's care and operation of the 928 acre campus towards environmental education and established it as a Wildlife Refuge.
Our 928 acre campus provides a wonderful outside laboratory for Agriculture, Natural Resource/Environmental Studies, Biology and other programs the college offers. We definitely teach the hands-on approach to learning.
We are fortunate to have a great diversity of habitats and wildlife on our campus. We encourage you to explore the many hiking trails and associated areas accessible for wildlife observation, education, hiking and photography.
