Course Description: This course is for the study, rehearsal, and public performance of literature appropriate to the ensemble, with an emphasis on the development of skills needed to perform within a large ensemble. Different literature will be studied each semester. Choice of ensemble is based on each student’s identified voice. This course may be repeated 3 times to meet the requirements of the AA-T in Music. (C-ID MUS 180).

Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:

Sing in time with section and ensemble as directed.
Sing the correct pitches as indicated with accurate intonation.
Sing with the articulation, dynamics, phrasing, and expression as directed.
Sing appropriately within the ensemble.
Sing in a manner stylistically appropriate to the period/style of the composition.
Perform improvised solos as applicable.
Demonstrate appropriate blend and balance within the ensemble and/or the section.
Memorize performance repertoire as directed.
Adhere to professional level ensemble performance and rehearsal standards of conduct.
