Course Description: This course provides each student with an individualized fitness program. A flexible workout schedule supports each student's academic coursework. The fitness center encourages participation at the student's level of fitness and allows for gradual progress toward a lifetime commitment to fitness and wellness. This course may be repeated to a maximum of 1.50 units to complete the entire curriculum of the course. Pass/No Pass only. Open Entry/Open Exit.
Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- demonstrate and assess the safe use of all equipment.
- explain the importance of monitoring blood pressure.
- calibrate and identify a target heart rate.
- identify and describe the five components of physical fitness.
- design a personal fitness program that incorporates the five components of physical fitness.
