Course Description: This course prepares the student for Honda or Acura dealer employment by offering the same lab training content and certification that dealer technicians must complete. Students will learn and certify hands-on skills in all eight Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification categories with a focus specific to Honda and Acura. This course is for students who have completed an ASE Education Foundation accredited automotive program and finished Honda PACT Employment Preparation I and II courses at Butte College.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in Honda/Acura electrical systems operation, diagnosis, and repair.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in Honda/Acura engine systems operation, diagnosis, and repair.
  3. Demonstrate proficiency in Honda/Acura fuel and emissions operation, diagnosis, and repair.
  4. Demonstrate proficiency in Honda/Acura restraint system operation, diagnosis, and repair.
  5. Demonstrate proficiency in Honda/Acura electric and hybrid vehicle operation, diagnosis, and repair.
  6. Demonstrate proficiency in Honda/Acura express service operation and protocols.

  1. Using the Honda/Acura supplied login credentials, log in into their database and navigate to the Driver support systems Read an article about an aiming driver support systems and be prepared to discuss these systems with your instructor.
  2. Read the supplied Road Departure Mitigation Troubleshooting article. Be prepared to discuss this system with your instructor.

Writing Assignments

  1. Using data from the Honda Individual Skills Module EBR12 iHDS Multi-Monitor DTCS and Data. Complete the assigned tasks for the module by completing the fill-in-the blank form.
  2. Submit a summary of what you learned during this class. Your summary should include what you learned, what you thought was important, and how you plan to use this information in your career. Your post must be a minimum of 600 words (three paragraphs).
