Course Description: This course prepares the student for Honda or Acura dealer employment by offering the same training content that dealer technicians must complete. Students will learn advanced skills in all eight Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification categories with a focus specific to Honda and Acura. This course is for fourth semester students in an ASE Education Foundation accredited automotive program.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Navigate Honda/Acura dealership specific online repair database at an advanced level.
2. Analyze and interpret Honda/Acura dealership level service information at an advanced level.
3. Identify the differences from the general eight ASE certification areas and specific Honda/Acura dealership advanced training requirements.
4. Demonstrate readiness to apply fundamental Honda/Acura dealership training in a professional service environment.

Reading Assignments

1. Using the Honda/Acura supplied login credentials, log in into their database and navigate to the Technical Service Bulletin 03-059 VSA Modulator inspection and replacement  and be prepared to discuss the associated recall with your instructor.
2. Read the supplied procedure on Brake Pedal adjustment  and be prepared to discuss the  procedural steps with your instructor.

Writing Assignments

1. After completing PRG03, reflect on what you see as significant differences in how the information is found in the GM view compared to Honda. Post your response this week and respond to two of your fellow peers.
2. After reviewing module RSC26 discuss your takeaway regarding special procedures for diagnosing, ordering parts, and repairing SRS systems. Post your response this week and respond to two of your fellow associates.

Out-of-Class Assignments

1. Complete required readings from Honda ServiceExpress and i-HDS on the Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) system, then write a 250–400 word explanation of VCM-2 operation (including solenoids, pressure switch, and PCM control strategy).
2. Evaluate two provided real-world VCM case studies by identifying misdiagnoses, explaining why they were incorrect, determining the single most revealing test, and rating the original technician’s efficiency using the supplied rubric.
