Basic Financial Aid Information for Parents

Both federal and state financial aid programs require students and their families to contribute to college costs. Financial aid can narrow the gap between your resources and your costs. We encourage all students to apply for financial aid by submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The recommended application window is January 1 to March 2 preceding the next school year. Students may file for financial aid after March 2 but may not be considered for all types of aid. Students who are eligible for AB 540 status may apply for California state aid only by submitting a California Dream Act application.
