Board of Governors Grant (BOGFW)
The Board of Governors Grant fee waiver is open to all students
who are California residents. Many students qualify due to their low income
level. Students who qualify for financial aid, general or public assistance,
SSI or who are dependents of disabled veterans should also qualify for the
BOGG fee waiver.
The BOG Fee Waiver Program waives the student's per unit enrollment fees,
and a portion of the transportation fee. The student must still
pay part of the transportation fee (full-time $60/part-time $45), health fee (full-time $15/part-time $12), any materials
fees required, a $2 TeleReg fee if they register by phone, and the $12 fee
for a student ID card if they choose to purchase one.
Qualifying
for the BOGFW Grant
To qualify for the BOGFW grant, students must meet any one of the following
criteria:
- The student is a CalWorks (AFDC), SSI or general assistance recipient at the time of their enrollment. Dependent students are eligible if CalWorks (AFDC) is the only source of parental income, even if the student is not on the CalWorks grant.
- The student is a dependent of a deceased or disabled veteran or National Guardsperson.
- The student is eligible for any state or federal need-based aid, such as EOPS, Pell, FSEOG, BIA, Cal-Grant, subsidized GSL, or Work-Study.
- The student is income eligible per state regulations.
Fee waivers are processed through the Financial Aid Office, where staff assists eligible students in applying for and receiving fee waivers. All that is usually needed to apply is a copy of the student's latest tax return.
Students interested in applying should contact Financial Aid Office for an application. Applications for the BOG fee waiver should be complete prior to registering for classes.
