Work-Study
The Butte College Job Placement & Cooperative Education Office offers three types of Work-Study that assists students in obtaining paid employment by subsidizing their wages. Federal Work-Study allows students to work on campus, or for nonprofit or government agencies providing community service. This program pays 100% of a students wages but is limited to minimum wage (currently $7.50 per hour). Students may work up to 20 hours per week while school is in session and up to 39 hours per week during regular academic breaks. ButteWORKs Work-Study allows students to work on or off campus in a field related to their major. This program reimburses the employer a percentage of the student's wages. Reimbursement rates are 25% for private/for-profit businesses and 35% for public/nonprofit businesses.
