General Education courses provide students an opportunity to explore a variety of subject areas and to broaden their college experience. Included in a minimum of 60 units required to obtain an Associate of Science or Associate in Arts degree, at least 20 units must be in General Education.  Those 20 units must include at least three units in each of  6 categories:  Natural Science, Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, English, Analytical Thinking, and Self Integration (3 units plus two Physical Education courses).  There are specific course that fulfill each of the categories. Click here for a complete list of these courses by category.

A maximum of 6 units can be double counted in both the students major and in General Education. For exceptions, consult with a Counselor.
Contact a counselor for details and specific information, and to develop a Student Educational Plan (SEP).
