Cheryl Erwin, M.A., is a marriage and family therapist who has

co-author of numerous books in Prima’s Positive Discipline series on raising
great children.
Can Parents Really Love Too Much? “I love my child, and he
knows it. So why is he disrespectful to me?” Raising a child in today’s world
isn’t easy, especially so for foster, kinship and adoptive parents who tend to
“feel sorry” for the early histories of their children. Parents are worried
about the ramification of early trauma, often in combination with pressures by family
friends, work and other responsibilities that feelings of guilt overwhelm them,
and in an effort to show their deep and abiding love for their children, they
overcompensate. As a result, their children come to demand more and respect
them less. Does this sound familiar? Jane
Nelsen and Cheryl Erwin have
written a ground breaking book, showing you how to change the relationship with
your child from one of guilt and manipulation to one of honesty and
cooperation. Thoughtful, practical advise will be offered by co-author and
fantastic educator, Cheryl Erwin, LMFT in this workshop, providing a guide to
help parents ensure that their loving wish to raise self-reliant and resilient
children comes true.
