Early Alert

Early Alert is a process to help a student in crisis receive priority student services with the goal of facilitating success at Butte College.

Staff and faculty can use the Early Alert process when a student has acute, urgent, personal concerns that are out of the ordinary and might prevent the student from being successful at Butte College.

(Early Alert is not designed to allow students to ‘go to the front of the line’ for needs that are shared by all – such as the need for planning prior to registration.)

The Early Alert process is initiated when any staff or faculty member gives a student a Priority Pass to be presented at the service destination. The Priority Pass designates the student to receive priority student services.

Two ways to refer a student using a Priority Pass:

  1. Paper version:  Paper version: Early Alert Priority Passes and campus provider lists are available in all department offices, at the VP of Student Services office in the Campus Center, and can be printed from this webpage.
  2. Electronic version: Login to MyBC, choose Access WebAdvisor, choose Early Alert, and then Create Referral. Link to MyBC Login.
