Butte College Art Gallery - Sustainable Art and Architecture


The Butte College Art Gallery would like to thank all of the artists and architects who participated in the 2010 Sustainable Art & Architecture Exhibit.  A special congratulations goes to the following artists:

Sustainability Themes included artwork and projects that address the following:

Peace and Social Justice – concepts involving human rights, equality, economic egalitarianism, and long term maintenance of the natural world.

Ecology – importance of biodiversity and the operation ecosystems.

Non-violence – a strategy for social change that rejects violence, instead utilizing persuasion, education, civil disobedience, and mass media communication.

Grassroots Democracy – participatory governance at the local/community level.

Green Technologies – technologies utilized to deter negative impacts of humans on the environment, such as recycling, renewable energy, water management, biofiltration, etc.

Human Settlement – ecovillages, concepts of New Urbanism, etc. that reduce the impact of humans on their environment.



The Butte College Art Gallery is located on the main Butte College campus, 3536 Butte Campus Drive, in the new ARTS Building closest to parking lot 3. Normal gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with extended hours on Wednesday to 7:30 p.m. The gallery may also be seen by appointment.
