Chuck Johnson The 2007 season will be Coach Johnson's twelfth season as Butte 's Head Volleyball Coach. Butte 's record over the last eleven years is 184 wins and 66 losses for a winning percentage of .736. The Golden Valley Conference record is 91 wins and 19 losses for an .827 winning percentage. Butte has won 7 Golden Valley Conference championships and has qualified for the California Community College State Volleyball championships (The Elite eight) five times. Two Butte players have been named to the All-American team; five to the CCCWV All-State teams; and seven players have been named to the All-Region team. Twenty-five players have gone on to play at four-year colleges and universities, most with partial or full scholarships. Prior to coming to Butte, Coach Johnson was the head volleyball coach at Hamilton Union High School for six years, compiling a record of 122 wins and 26 losses. The Hamilton Braves won three Mid-Valley League championships and finished second place, three times. He coaches in the Club Chico Junior Olympic program and has taken teams to the Davis Volleyball Festival. Coach Johnson has been a long term consultant to the U.S. Men's Olympic Volleyball team, and a part of the staff at the 1984 Los Angels Olympic Games, the 1988 Seoul Olympics, and the 1996 Atlanta Games.
Melissa Page Melissa Page played volleyball for Butte College during the 2003-2004 volleyball seasons, and was the team captain both years. While attending Butte, Melissa received All-Northern California honors, All-State honors, as well as Golden Valley Conference MVP in 2004. In addition, Melissa received the Enterprise Record Female-Athlete of the Year award for Butte in 2004. She then proceeded on to play at Chico State for the 2005 season. Melissa has coached competitive volleyball for 6 years. She coached Thunder Volleyball camps for 5 years, and was the Club Chico 18’s Black coach in 2005. Melissa was the Assistant Volleyball Coach for Butte College in 2006, and continues to coach in the present 2007 season. Melissa has her Associates Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences, and is presently working towards her Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management.
