2007 Butte Track & Field Butte College enters this season with one of the most well rounded teams in recent school history. Last year BC Track & Field finished second in the GVC and had 5 athletes compete at the State Meet with one taking the State Title in the 1500m. Oscar Uribe finished off an impressive 2 year career by finishing as the State Champion in the 1500m and capturing 3rd place in the 3000m. He leaves the program ranked in the top ten in the 800m, 1500m, 3000m and 5000m. Jenna Lee also finished her successful JC career here by finishing in the top ten at state in the 5000m and the 10000m, including a Championship in the 10000m at NorCal. Erica Embry, returning for her sophomore season, finished in the top ten in the state in the Triple Jump and Long Jump at the State Meet last season. She also put herself in the Butte College women's top ten lists in both of these events, triple jump (2nd) and long jump (4th) as well as the 100m (3rd) and 200m (4th). Chad Williams is also returning for his sophomore season and last year finished 2nd at NorCal Finals in the High Jump with a height of 6'7 (4th all time). Butte also has a number of talented newcomers on the squad for this year as well as local talent. The Roadrunners will be lead in the throws by Adam Fissori (Corning), Robb Houser (Durham), Breanne Potrie (Paradise), Holly Lohse ( Hamilton City) and returnee from 2004, Amanisha Murray (Chico). The sprint group will be lead by all freshmen starting with David Sims, Mark Williams, Joe Scott, Dwight Aitkens (Chico) and Tony Bolar (PV). Erik Tom looks to have a very strong season competing in the Decathlon. Alfred Perkins, whose season was cut short due to injury last year, will be the leader in a gifted group of jumpers. He will be joined by David Byrd, Giovanni Stanley, Lyle Nelson (Chico), Tony Desimone, Sierra Evers-Hellmich and another returnee from 2004 Jake Clinton. In the distance department, 2006 returners Tanya Bowers and Manuel Ventura (Live Oak) will lead the way along with newcomer Ryan Matz (PV).
