ADDING BIOLOGY 15 (INTRODUCTION TO MICROBIOLOGY)

FIRST....

BE SURE YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE CHEMISTRY PREREQUISITE.  You must have completed a High School Chemistry class (one year) or a college introductory chemistry class (1 semester), such as Chem. 110 or the equivalent.  Only a grade of "C" or better is acceptable for the chemistry prerequisite.

IF YOU HAD CHEMISTRY OUTSIDE OF BUTTE COLLEGE... If you took your chemistry at another institution you must show transcript proof of this to the Assessment Office 48 hours before your Tel-Reg or Web-Reg time!  The Assessment Office will then clear you for registration on the campus computers.

STUDENTS ENROLLED IN A SECTION SHOULD EXPECT TO STAY IN THAT SECTION... Make sure you enroll in a section you can actually attend!  It's nearly impossible to switch sections!

NEW WAIT LIST PROTOCOL!!!!

Once a class section is filled, students may choose to be placed on the Web Advisor Wait List for the class.  As long as the course impaction continues, all Biology 15 course sections will be closed for Web Registration near the end of the first week of registration.  Before the first day of classes, any spaces that open up in a section will be filled, in order, from the Web Advisor Wait List for the section. 

Once classes have started, students may only be added by instructors.

STUDENTS WISHING TO ADD THIS CLASS MUST ATTEND THE FIRST CLASS SESSION (WHETHER LAB OR LECTURE)

FALL 2008 ADD PROTOCOL:

Instructors will add into spaces using the following priorities:

FIRST - Students in attendance who are on the current Biology 15 Instructor's Add List.            

Fall 2008 is the last semester this instructor's add list will be used

SECOND - Students in attendance who are on the Fall 2008 Web Advisor Wait List

ALL spaces will be filled by lottery if necessary.

SPRING 2009 AND  SUBSEQUENT SEMESTERS ADD PROTOCOL:

STUDENTS WISHING TO ADD THIS CLASS MUST ATTEND THE FIRST CLASS SESSION (WHETHER LAB OR LECTURE)

Instructors will add into spaces using the following priorities:

FIRST PRIORITY to students who...	SECOND PRIORITY to students who...	THIRD PRIORITY to students who...
Were on ANY Web Advisor Wait List for Biology 15 the previous semester AND...	Were on ANY Web Advisor Wait List for Biology 15 the previous semester AND...	Attend a specific section of Biology 15 on first day of classes AND...
Attended a Biology 15 class the first day of classes the previous semester AND...	Attended a Biology 15 class the first day of classes the previous semester AND...	Are on current semester's Web Advisor Wait List for that specific section AND
Attend a specific section of Biology 15 on first day of classes AND...	Attend a specific section of Biology 15 on first day of classes AND...	Have NOT attended a Biology 15 class the first day of classes the previous semester.
Are on current semester's Web Advisor Wait List for that specific section.	Are on current semester's Web Advisor Wait List for ANY Biology 15 section.

All efforts will be made to add students in the order that they appear on the current semester Wait List.

If necessary, spaces will be filled by lottery.

Enrolled students who do not attend the first day of class will be dropped and those on the waitlist who don't attend the first day of class will be removed from the waitlist and will no longer be considered an officially waitlisted student for the next term. If demand exceeds availability using this method of adding, we may give preference to students who have been on waitlists for multiple semesters.
