Changes in the Library
Google Scholar partnership
Butte College has established a partnership with Google Scholar using OpenURL technology to locate our scholarly and professional journal articles.
You can search the world’s scholarly literature online at http://scholar.google.com. Google Scholar includes peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles from academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, universities and other scholarly organizations.
Our partnership allows Google Scholar to determine which electronic journals and papers in the results list are owned by Butte College Library, and then includes special links to articles from those sources when they're available. Look in the results list for "Full-text@Butte" or "Check resources@Butte."
To make these links appear, just access Google Scholar from any Butte College campus, and you'll automatically see the "@Butte" links. For off-campus access, follow these steps:
- If you have cookies blocked, set your browser to accept cookies.
- Click on "Scholar Preferences" to the right of the Google Scholar search box.
- Type "Butte College" in the 'Library Links' section.
- Click "Save preferences."
- Start searching with links to your library's resources.
You will need your user name and password to access these resources from off-campus. Click here to find your user ID/password.
Google Books and Worldcat partnership
Butte College is now a member of Open Worldcat and has partnered with Google to help find resources in our library from Google Books (http://books.google.com) or Google Scholar (http://scholar.google.com)
For books in Google Scholar results, click "Find in a Library" to see the closest Library that owns the book.
For Google Books results:
- Click on the title of the book
- Scroll down on the right side frame
- Click "Find this book in a Library"
