About the exhibition:
In Our Nature is an exhibition of 15 digitally printed photographs on silk that comments on and explores the physical evidence of our interaction within the natural world. Historically, humans have attempted to control, create and, even, conquer their environment. Although with the absence of our involvement, the natural world will eventually reclaim our alterations, as if, we never existed.
About the artist:
Growing up in Fresno, California, Adria's mother recognized her interest in art at an early age. Adria attended numerous art classes and in school took advantage of many art opportunities in her area. Whether it was painting, ceramics, printmaking, video or photography, she was drawn to various art media. At Butte College, she found herself immersed in filmmaking. Over three years, she worked on two movies, producing a variety of short films and live video productions, but during that time, she recognized her desire for an art education. Adria found the historical aspects of art fascinating and graduated in 2007 from CSU Chico with a bachelor's degree in Art with an emphasis in Art History. That same year, Adria began working as a Collection Manager at the Janet Turner Print Museum at CSU, Chico. Adria realized that if she wanted to pursue an art career, she needed a master's degree. Photography has been a common theme and interest for her entire life. Adria's uncle is a photographer and has had a major influence on her. In 2015, Adria graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Art Studio at California State University, Chico.
