Automotive Students Advance Nationally

Student Winners

Butte College Automotive students are on the road to success. Recently, Butte’s Automotive students attended the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference held March 31- April 3 in San Diego. Butte College Auto students earned 5 Gold, 3 Silver, and 1 Bronze medals. Some of the medals went to a team of students, not just an individual. Students excelled in areas including: automotive, engineering, robotics, TV video, and public speaking.

Doug Conrad, Butte College Auto Technology instructor, earned an award as well, as he was recognized as Regional Advisor of the Year. The eight students who placed first in state qualified to move forward to the National Skills and Leadership Conference in Louisville, KY June 20-25.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. Butte College has been represented at the SkillsUSA Conferences since 2013.
