Butte College will be holding a joint multi-casualty drill on Friday, December 2 at the main campus Allied Health Public Safety Training Grounds, 3536 Butte Campus Drive, Oroville.
The following activities will be taking place at different times throughout the day:
11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Multi-Vehicle Casualty Drill Simulation: Butte College fire cadets will receive hands-on training for a multi-casualty triage, victim extrication, fire suppression, and patient care.
Fire cadets and paramedic students will arrive at a three vehicle auto accident involving two cars and a bus. There will be approximately 10—15 victims between all three cars. Fire cadets will arrive at initial incident, triage and begin victim extrication. Fire cadets will utilize triage area for initial patient treatment and packaging and do a patient transport via ambulance while providing patient care and offering a pre-hospital radio report to a nursing student while enroute. Once at the designated patient “drop off” the paramedic student or fire cadet will give the nursing student a transfer of care verbal report.
2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
High Rise Fire Simulation: Fire cadets will focus on multi casualty triage, high rise fire operations/suppression, victim rescue, patient transport and care. Fire cadets will arrive to a 4-story commercial structure fire with 10-15 victims trapped inside. Fire cadets will perform fire suppression, ventilation, and victim rescue. Fire cadets will utilize triage area for initial patient treatment and transport. Paramedic students and fire cadets will simulate a patient transport in the ambulance while providing patient care. Paramedic or fire cadets will give a pre-hospital report to a nursing student while enroute. Once at the designated patient “drop off” the paramedic student or fire cadet will give the nursing student a transfer of care verbal report.
