The Butte College Art Gallery is once again pleased to announce the 31st Annual Juried Student Art and Design Exhibition. Butte College student artists and designers will have their works on display from May 1–15. The Gallery will host a reception for the artists Wednesday, May 1 in the Butte College Art Gallery from 4-6 p.m. The reception is free to the public and will include the awards presentation and will include refreshments for guests.
Anthony Montanino is the guest juror and will judge the exhibition based on the aesthetic quality of the works submitted. Student works are evaluated on their formal appearance, which includes the student's organization and arrangement of the visual elements, the utilization of the elements and principles of design, technical quality, and professional preparation for display. Content is also an important consideration in the evaluation of works chosen for the exhibition, including the effectiveness of the student's visual language in expressing the concept/essential meaning, and how well the materials of construction aligned with the ideas expressed in the works.
There will be cash awards for Best in Show and Best in Category. Categories include, Painting, Drawing & Printmaking, Photography, Digital Media, and Three-Dimensional Arts. Awards will also include Honorable Mentions.
The Butte College Art Gallery is located on the Butte College main campus, 3536 Butte Campus Drive, in the new ARTS Building (ARTS 106) closest to parking lot 3.
