Select students who attend the Butte County Office of Education’s After School Program will participate at the 6th Annual "Kids Challenge" held at Butte College on Thursday, March 7, from 2-5:30 pm. A total of 22 schools throughout Butte County will be participating including over 500 students and parents/guardians.
Students arrive at 2 p.m. and receive a tour of the campus by tour guides from the college. Following the tour, students will enter the gym to receive a welcome from Butte County Superintendent Tim Taylor and Butte College President, Dr. Kimberly Perry. There will also be a special appearance by the Butte College Roadrunner “Dash” who will be tossing out T-shirts into the crowd. Students will then cheer on one representative from their schools in an academic trivia tournament. Winning teams will earn a plaque and a gift certificate for books. The purpose of the event is to promote the benefits of attending college to students at an earlier age.
