Butte College Theatre Department is holding open auditions for its Fall show, "The Producers" at the Black Box Theatre on Butte College's main campus, 3536 Butte Campus Dirve on Wednesday, May 7, and Thursday, May 8, from 7-10 p.m.
Female and male actors 18 and over are needed who can act, sing and dance. Please bring and be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song in the style of the show. Come dressed appropriately to learn and perform a dance composition.
Those familiar with Mel Brooks' cult classic comedy film and Broadway musical will know that this show is notorious for outrageous "in your face" humor. "Max Bialystock was once the king of Broadway, but now all of his shows close on opening night," says director Barry Piccinino. "Things turn around when he's visited by the neurotic accountant Leo Bloom, who proposes a scheme tailor-made for producers who can only make flops: raise far more money than you need, then make sure the show is despised. No one will be interested in it, so you can pocket the surplus." Max and Leo find the ultimate bad musical, "Springtime for Hitler," then miscast all the roles. The duo is taken by surprise when their production is hailed as the toast of the town.
Rehearsals begin August 19, and show dates are November 7-18, 2013. For more information contact Barry Piccinino at 530-895-2275
