Butte College Speech & Debate team students competed in the Northern California Forensic Association Championship (NCFA) tournament and took home 10 awards, including the first place award in the Small School Community College Division.
"This is exciting news for our students who have excelled in so many categories," said Dr. Kimberly Perry, Butte College president. "We're proud of the excellent showing of our team and special thanks is well-deserved to coaches Kiara Koenig, Corey Gruber, and Theresa Perry who work closely with our Speech & Debate team to help students succeed."
The following students received awards:
1st Place for Duo Interpretation: Talia Segal and Elizabeth Duran
2nd Place Parliamentary Speaker Award: Mike Barbaro
4th place Parliamentary Speaker Award: Niko Neubauer
Parliamentary Debate team to Quarter Finals: Mike Barbaro and Niko Neubauer
Extemporaneous Finalist Award: Mike Barbaro
Extemporaneous 3rd Place Award: Niko Neubauer
Persuasive Speaking Finalist Award: Megan Rutkowski
Finalist Dramatic Interpretation: Elizabeth Duran
3rd Place Prose: Talia Segal
