Student Art and Design Exhibit

Some of the best Butte College student artists and designers will display their works at the Butte College Art Gallery as part of the 30th Annual Juried Student Art and Design Exhibition from May 2-16, 2012, at the main campus, 3536 Butte Campus Drive in Oroville.

The internationally recognized artist, Wosene Worke Kosrof, chose the best of the many student projects submitted for the show based on a variety of standards such as visual elements, technical quality, and presentation style. Wosene's works are included in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art (DC); The Newark Museum (NJ); Neuberger Museum (NY); Indianapolis Museum of Art (IN); Birmingham Museum of Art (AL); Fowler Museum (CA); Samuel P. Harn Museum (FL); National Museum, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; and the City Museum of Addis Ababa. His paintings are exhibited in the United States, international galleries, and in many international private, public, and corporate collections.

A reception for the student artists will be held on Wednesday, May 2, in the Butte College Art Gallery from 2 -4 p.m.

Cash awards will be given at the reception for Best in Show, Best in Category, including painting, drawing & printmaking, photography, digital media, and three-dimensional arts, Honorable Mentions, and Purchase Awards.

The Butte College Art Gallery is located on the main campus, 3536 Butte Campus Drive, Oroville. It is on the ground floor of the ARTS Building (ARTS 106) and wheel chair accessible. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. or by appointment. For further information, call 895-2877.
