Associated Students' Sustainability Resource Center Hosts Earth Day Celebration


The Butte College Associated Students' Sustainability Resource Center (SRC) will host anannual Earth Day Celebration, on April 18 and 19from 10a.m. to 2 p.m. Free activities will take place at the Butte College main campus, 3536 Butte Campus Drive, on the Fountain Lawn. This year's theme is Do it Yourself (D.I.Y.) as we want to encourage and empower students to use the vast amounts of resources that exist in our community. Students will learn about a variety of sustainable topics.

Students, faculty and staff will be able to experience live music, healthy food, sustainable vendors, educational student booths and D.I.Y stations and crafts.

On Wednesday, April 18, special activities for Earth Day include: live student debates on sustainability by the Butte College Speech and Debate team from 11 a.m. to noon, live music by Swamp Zen from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., and a performance by the Student Ignite Show at the Chico Center Lounge from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Activities taking place Thursday, April 19 include live music by Soul Union from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., music by Wolf Thump from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m., and special event Haute Trash Fashion Show, in the Campus Center Lounge from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
