Tom Lando has been appointed to serve as a new Butte College Trustee for Chico Area 3, filling the seat recently vacated by Dr. Allan Forbes of Chico.
Tom Lando is the Principal/Owner of Lando and Associates, a planning, administration and management consulting firm. He previously served as City Manager for the City of Chico for over 14 years, was the Executive Director of the Chico Redevelopment Agency and Airport Manager from July 1992 to January 2006, and in other director positions since 1980. Lando has a Doctorate and Master's Degree in Public Administration, and a Master's Degree in City Planning.
"We are delighted to have Tom Lando as our trustee," said Dr. Kimberly Perry, Butte College President. "His insight will be an asset as we work through state budget cuts and tough economic times."
Most notably, he is the chair-elect on the Enloe Hospital Board of Trustees, and has held leadership positions with the Chico Chamber of Commerce; Chico Rotary Club; Butte College Bond Oversight Committee; and Butte College Foundation.
"I am honored to be named as the new Butte College trustee representing Chico," said Lando. "I believe my background in local government, serving in leadership positions with statewide boards, and experience dealing with large budgets will serve the college well."
The Board of Trustees govern Butte College and guide the direction of the College. Trustees must reside in the College's district boundaries.
Lando is a past member the Advisory Committee for Rural and Town Planning, Torres Homeless Shelter Advisory Board, California Redevelopment Association board and as Vice President of the League of California Cities - Community Development Division. Lando has been recognized with Lifetime Achievement Awards from Chico Economic Planning Corporation, American Society of Public Administration and the Building Industry Association.
