The Butte College Art Gallery is pleased to announce the 29th Annual Juried Student Art and Design Exhibition. Exceptional work produced by student artists and designers is on display from May 9-23. A reception for the artists will be held on Wednesday, May 11 in the Butte College Art Gallery from 2-4 p.m. Awards will be given at that time and refreshments will be served.
Celebrated local artists George and Patricia Koszis judged the exhibition based on the aesthetic quality of the works submitted. Art and design works were evaluated on their formal appearance; including the student's organization and arrangement of the visual elements, the utilization of the elements and principles of design, technical quality, and professional preparation for display. Content was also an important consideration in the evaluation of works chosen for the exhibition, including the effectiveness of the student's visual language in expressing the concept/essential meaning, and how well the materials of construction aligned with the ideas expressed in the works.
Cash awards will be given at the reception for Best in Show, Best in Category, including two-dimensional – (painting, drawing, printmaking), photography (digital photo and traditional), digital media (graphic design, illustration), multimedia, film (includes 3D modeling, rapid-prototype 3-D models and animation), and three-dimensional (sculpture, jewelry, fashion, fiber, ceramics), Honorable Mentions and Purchase Awards.
