Butte College and the Private Industry Council (PIC) have partnered to graduate its first-ever class of Clean Energy Workforce Students. The 20 students had taken a Butte College proctored North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Entry Level Exam.
The students were presented with a certificate for completing 10 courses with over 300 hours in the field. Together with PIC, Butte College developed a number of courses for dislocated workers with an objective of achieving industry certification for these workers. Courses included: Environmental Training; Energy Fundamentals; Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Systems; Water Efficient Buildings and Retrofits; Solar Hot Water Installation and Design Principles; Solar Photovoltaic Design and Installation Principles; and Green Building.
In addition to partnering with PIC, other industry partners included Valley Contractors Exchange, Chico Electric, Greg Melton of Land Image Design, and FAFCO.
