Butte College’s Students in Free Enterprise have partnered with Nelson Avenue Middle School in Oroville. As fall semester ended last month, SIFE students sought donations from Butte College students for gently used school supplies (calculators, binders, backpacks, mechanical pencils). This sustainable effort, coupled with a $100 grant from Oroville Wal-Mart, amounted to 200 pounds of school supplies donated directly to needy students at Nelson Avenue Middle School. Butte College Men’s Basketball Coach Russ Critchfield and the basketball team, along with SIFE students, will host an all school assembly to talk to students about the importance of staying in school. The team will also hold a basketball clinic for the students during the assembly.
