John Cowan, one of Butte College's founding trustees died at the age 92. " As a board member, he left an indelible mark on the college through his visionary leadership which was instrumental in the college's development of its 928 acre wildlife refuge. He was such an avid supporter of Butte College athletics and he will be missed by so many," said Diana Van Der Ploeg, Butte College President.
Cowan served on the Butte College Board of Trustees for 19 years, from 1968 through 1985, and remained active in attending many athletic events.
"He never missed a game until recently. We let him sit in the press box and he had a good time. I think he's in the best press box there is now," said Craig Rigsbee, Butte College Athletics Director.
