Ask A Librarian
Starting from August 9th, 2010, the Library transitioned to an “efficient schedule” as part of the District’s ongoing effort to save resources and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Main Campus Library is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM and Fridays from 7:30 AM to 12 noon.
Are you aware that most of the services and resources offered in-person at the Library are available online 24/7 through the Library web page? You can access these online services via the Library web page at www.butte.edu/library any time on any day at any location. The Butte College virtual library never closes!
Wherever you are located, you can chat with a reference librarian online 24/7 for research assistance and for answers to related questions via the Ask-A-Librarian page. You can also fine tune your research skills by taking an online tutorial, renew books you have checked out, and request an Interlibrary Loan for items not owned by the Library. Instructors can request online to schedule bibliographic instruction sessions for their classes.
In addition to the online services, we have over 28,000 books and over 29,000 newspapers, magazines, and scholarly journals available for you to read online anytime via the Library web page.
Although our Library schedule has changed, our mission remains the same: to provide quality information resources and services that meet the curriculum needs of our students, fulfill the diverse information needs of our entire college community and serve as an integral part of developing the skills used in lifelong learning. As always, I welcome your comments and suggestions. Best of luck throughout the semester!
