MS 52 Beginning Machine Shop
Basic machine tool operations with emphasis on metal turning, lathe, drill press, power band saw, milling machines, care of equipment and safety. The student will be required to demonstrate correct procedures in the use of hand tools as well as power tools. Since skill! proficiencies are enhanced by supervised repetition and practice, this course may be repeated one time.
MS 53 Advanced Machine Shop
A continuation of MS 52. The operation of metal lathe and mill are explored in depth. Machine maintenance, hazardous machine shop materials, tooling, work holding devices, inspection, characteristics of materials, heat treating, finishing, and nontraditional machining are also covered.
MS 110 Machine Shop Practices
This is a supervised lab experience for those wishing to expand their machining skills and gain operation time on machine tools that experience impacted usage during regular scheduled class time. Open Entry/ Open Exit. Credit! No Credit only. Since skills/ proficiencies are enhanced by supervised repletion and practice, this course may be repeated one time.
